POSITION SUMMARY:
The Medical Director is responsible for the efficient and effective management of the Medical Services department. The Medical Director ensures the delivery of the highest standard of clinical services through ongoing teaching, evaluation and direction of Physicians as well as overseeing clinical care provided by nursing team. The Medical Director is accountable for the integration of clinical services in order to meet the comprehensive needs of its patients and provide quality services that are designed to Prevent, Improve, Restore, and Sustain overall health and wellness.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Assumes responsibility for the efficient and profitable management of clinical services including supervising, directing and managing Physicians responsible for patient care at site of service.
2. Assures that patients have adequate and appropriate Physician coverage including on-call system as defined by site.
3. Provides direct patient care as appropriate. 4. Ensures all medical and clinical practices are evidence based and adhere to the highest quality care delivery standards.
5. Assists with development of emergency treatment and patient transfer procedures.
6. Ensures effective Physician participation in care related processes such as assessment, diagnosis, treatment, documentation, and care planning.
7. Ensures complete and comprehensive assessments and treatment plans including utilization of appropriate tests and measures, interpretation of examination findings to identify diagnoses, impairments and establish goals, determination of the predicted level of improvement and the time required to achieve it, and identification of precautions/contraindications to ensure patient safety.
8. Participates in clinical rounds, surveys, and meetings as defined by site including quality improvement initiatives.
9. Assures Physician compliance with documentation including certifications, orders, billing, admission and discharge notes, and death certificates.
10. Establishes appropriate relationships, and coordinates transfer and care arrangements with area hospitals and other pertinent institutions.
11. Identifies areas of opportunity for Physician clinical growth, professional growth, performance improvement and customer service excellence through consistent oversight and management.
